2026 Playoff Primer
Boys! Boys! Boys!
I didn’t have enough juice in the battery to provide a full power rankings breakdown this week, but I couldn’t deprive you of a Week 14 playoff primer. It’s a matter of life and death after all! Here’s what it takes for y’all to make a run at a title fight.
Tom (9-4)
After a brief sabbatical, it feels good to be atop the ranks once again. A playoff spot has been secured, and a First Round BYE is well within reach. All that’s needed is a win, or a loss from Kyle or Peter & Reese. If I fall short in Week 14, and should those two emerge victorious - then I’ll be in for a stressful first round matchup.
Kyle (8-5)
Get a load of this guy! Back-to-back playoff appearances from our lovable loser! Awfully impressive considering the lineup has been devoid of Omarion Hampton and James Conner for most of the season. With a playoff spot locked up, a First Round BYE becomes the priority. To get there, a Week 14 victory paired with a loss from Tom would make it quite simple. Otherwise, Kyle needs to pace Peter & Reese while maintaining his slim 14 point scoring lead.
Peter & Reese (8-5)
Look at Reeso, man. Beginners luck? These two have been quite the duo in 2025. The 2010 HMBHS Varsity call-ups are playoff bound, and they too are in play for a First Round BYE. Just like Kyle, the simplest path forward is a victory over Cole and an L from T$. A victory and a loss from Kyle would also do the trick. If the top three all emerge victorious in Week 14, then Peter & Reese will need to outscore Kyle by 14.
Brad (7-6)
ESPN is clocking Bradley with a 98% chance at landing a playoff spot, but let’s be realistic - it’s secure. There’s no conceivable way in which enough of the current 7-6 or 6-7 teams can overcome BK’s steep scoring differential. Believe it or not, a First Round BYE is also in the cards if Kyle & Peter/Reese both lose while Brad wins and outscores Peter/Reese by 29.
Devon (7-6)
Ugh. Week 14 would have been cake walk had it not been for that crushing defeat on MNF. Don’t fret, the playoffs are still well within reach. Win, and you’re in. Lose, and you better hope Henry edges out Pete. Because if Pete wins, his scoring lead will be nearly impossible to overcome.
Henry (7-6)
ALLOW ME TO INTRODUCE THE MOST ELECTRIC MATCHUP OF WEEK 14. Hank vs. Pete. Winner take all. Should Henry lose, his last hope would be a loss from Devon while outscoring him by 24.
Pete (6-7)
Win and you’re in! Lose, and you’re out. It’s that simple.
Case (6-7)
Bring a water bottle and break out the yoga mat - because this is going to be a stretch. First things first, Case needs a victory in Week 14. Unfortunately, a win alone won’t be enough. These boys need to BALL the f*ck out. I’m talking Wilt Chamberlain numbers. If my math is correct, Case needs a loss from Henry and Devon. He’ll also need surpass Henry’s 31 point lead, and Devon’s 55 point lead. No matter the outcomes - heck of a job staying in the hunt this long.
Mike & Chet (6-7)
You can loosen your grip on the Championship Trophy. The odds are not in your favor. Y’all need a victory, losses from Case, Devon, and Henry - all while surmounting their massive scoring leads.
Ryan (6-7)
ESPN says you have a hail mary chance at securing the 6th seed, but I just don’t see it. The scoring margin is too large to overcome.
Cole (5-8)
What is dead may never die. The “what if” roster is finally at full strength, but it’s too little too late. Unfortunately for Reeso & Peter, this is not the lineup I want to face with a First Round BYE on the line. Especially with CMC taking a breaker on Sunday.
Austin (3-10)
The Housing Chair has a wedding to plan, then he can start planning the 2026 Live Draft. The beer’s on Stain! Before we get there though - if I know Austin as well as I think I do, his sour season would go down much sweeter if he manages to spoil Kyle’s chances at a First Round BYE.
Hell of a season, gentlemen. Best of luck and best of health. Let’s get after it!
